I have missed blogging SO MUCH these past few months, and now that university has started up again and I was a complete fool and enrolled in 6 courses, my time has been monopolized by studying and work. But Clinique released their Fall 2017 bonus recently, and I have been dying to gush about it.
To qualify for this bonus, I picked up a Take The Day Off Makeup Remover for Lids, Lashes & Lips, along with a Clinique Happy Gelato Cream in Berry Blush.
This bonus includes:
Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief
Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion+
High Impact Mascara
All About Shadow/Blush Palette in Sunrise or Sunset
Chubby Lip Balm
Clinique Happy Perfume
Clinique x Jonathan Adler cosmetics bag
This bonus offered two colour collection choices, Sunrise (left) and Sunset (right), featuring different chubby sticks and eyeshadow and blush shades. Sunrise included an All About Shadow/Blush Palette in Foxier + Mink, and Cupid, and a Chubby Lip Colour Balm in Mega Melon. Sunset included an All About Shadow/Blush Palette in Like Like Mink, and Sunset Glow, and a Chubby Lip Colour Balm in Super Strawberry.
Despite the amazing shades of this bonus, my favourite part if definitely the three-dimensional geometric tiled cosmetic bag, designed by Jonathan Adler, the American potter, designer, and author. All of his designs are modern yet chic, and I would love to have them in my home.
What Clinique products are you bringing out this autumn???
It feels like it has been so long since Clinique last came out with a bonus, so I was really excited to head down to my local mall and stock up on all my favourite products.
To qualify for this bonus, I picked up a Pretty Easy Liquid Eyelining Pen, which I absolutely adore and reviewed here, and a Long Last Soft Matte Lipstick in the shade Matte Plum that I reviewed here way back in 2015.
This bonus includes:
Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief
Chubby Lash Fattening Mascara in Jumbo Jet
All About Shadow Duo
Long Last Lipstick
Rinse-Off Foaming Cleanser
Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion +
The colour collection choices available for this bonus were Spring Pinks and Spring Nudes, which have different shades of eyeshadow, blush, and lipstick. I went with the pinks, which included the lipstick shade Ginger Flower, the Like Milk eyeshadow duo, and Sunset Glow blush.
The Chubby Lash Fattening Mascara is a new addition to the bonus and, while I love the High Impact Volume Mascara that is usually included, I am really looking forward to trying out this formula and brush.
I have also read raving reviews of the Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief, and with summer fast-approaching, my skin will need all the hydration it can get.
Finally, the cosmetics bag is such a vibrant shade of pink and the citrus fruit slices make it perfect for summer. I think I am going to use it to organzize my sun products so that I can just toss it in a tote bag for a day at the beach.
What Clinique products have you been loving lately???
Alright, I may be the last person to know this but, myth debunked, Zoella Beauty products are available in Canada. Sort of. Canadian drug stores don’t carry them, but they can be ordered online. Hopefully some other people out there were unaware of this until quite recently, otherwise I just live under a very small rock.
The last two ranges passed me by because of this absurd not-available-in-Canada notion, but this time I jumped on the beauty train and ordered four of products from the new range from Feelunique. The only product unavailable for purchase online was the body mist spray, but I don’t mind one little bit because after a bath and some lotion, I will be smelling like vanilla and macaroons in no time.
In total, this range is comprised of 8 products, all of which smell like vanilla-based sweet macaroons. I think my favourite part about this release is the adorable pastel-coloured French patisserie style packaging. It is almost too beautiful to use. Almost.
Le Fizz Fragranced Bath Fizzer 200g
Double Crème Body Lotion 186g
Sugar Dip Scented Bath Salt Granules 200g
Bath Latte 400mL
I also picked up the Zoella Beauty Winking Beauty Bag, which was released as part of the first range, but I fell in love with it when Zoe first went through the the products, and when I saw it online I immediately added it to my cart. I don’t know if I will use it as a beauty bag, but I think it would be an adorable pencil case.
After purchasing so many Zoella Beauty products, this Sticker Me! Beauty Bag was added to my cart as a free gift. And who doesn’t love free???
Have you tried any products from any of the Zoella Beauty ranges??? What did you think of them???
I was wandering through The Bay the other week and saw that Clinique finally had a bonus gift out. The last one was way back in February, which you can read about here, and since then I had been waiting and waiting for the next bonus before I stocked up on my favourite products. Well, I stocked up all right, and the cosmetics bags are so cute and I love all the sample size products.
To qualify for the bonus, I purchased four products in two separate purchases so I could get one of each bonus. In the first round, I picked up a Different Lipstick in the shade Glazed Berry, which is a gorgeous frosted rose pink shade, and a Long Last Soft Matte Lipstick in the shade Matte Beauty, a classic rose shade that offers full-coverage and a matte finish without drying or fading.
In the second round, I went for one of the new Clinique Pop Lip Colour + Primer Lipsticks in the shade Graffiti Pop, a vibrant raspberry pink (after swatching all the shades on my arm, of course). I reviewed the original Clinique Pop Lip Colour + Primer Lipsticks back in 2015, which you can read here if you’d like, and my main issue with them was that the demi-matte finish meant they did not last as long as the soft matte lipsticks and they had a slight sheen. Well, this new release of matte pop shades has me motivated to mosey on over to the Clinique counter next time I’m out shopping and scoop up a few more. I also picked up a Clinique Pretty Easy Liquid Eyelining Pen in 01 Black because I have been obsessed with it ever since it was first released and I reviewed it here, and now it is just starting to run out, so I am keeping another one on hand.
The bonus gift this go-around includes:
Clinique Smart SPF-15 Custom-Repair Moisturizer
Take the Day Off Makeup Remover For Lids, Lashes, and Lips
All About Shadow Duo and Blush in Sassy or Sweet Colour Collections
Clinique Pop Glaze Sheer Lip Colour + Primer in Sassy or Sweet Colour Collections
High Impact Mascara in Black
Clinique Happy Perfume Spray
The choices available for this bonus were the cosmetics bag, and the colour collection of Sweet or Sassy. I got one of each because I was super eager to snoop through them and try out all the shades of the colour collections.
What Clinique products have you been loving lately???
Once again, I found myself in the drug store on a mission to find some essentials and ended up getting sidetracked in the makeup aisle. There were so many clearance and sale tags that I selected only a few items that I really wanted to try, and at bargain prices to boot.
One of my weaknesses is rewards programs. I don’t know what it is about them, but I feel compelled to register for every reward card, points system or coupon mailing list, even for stores that I don’t often visit. I think part of it is that, if I’m going to be shopping there anyways, I might as well be able to score 10% off, points to spend on items in-store, or coupons on everyday products. I mention this because I scored some serious points on this shopping spree and I am already so close to $5 in savings. But, I digress.
Maybelline The Nudes Eyeshadow Palette $13.99 from 18.99
I had been eyeing this palette for awhile but $18.99 was a bit pricy so when I saw it was marked down I scooped it up. They have three different palettes, The Nudes, The Rock Nudes, and The Blushed Nudes. The Rock Nudes has a lot of cool-toned browns and greys that are great for smoky eyes but not for everyday wear. The Blushed Nudes are gorgeous shades with pink undertones but I typically go for the more golden and shimmery nudes, so this palette was perfect.
I have never tried a cream eyeshadow before but I was feeling a little adventurous and for $6.49 it seemed like a good time to try it. There were other quads with different shades but I felt like I would get much more use out of these ones, plus I love the shimmer in them.
Revlon Colourburst Lip Butter in 080 Strawberry Shortcake $5.79 from 11.49
Before I start writing about the lip butter, I just want to have a mini rant about sales tags. If a store puts a sale or clearance tag underneath a product that says $11.49 $5.79, that indicates to me that there is a sale afoot. But apparently some of these sales tags have little letter codes or shade abbreviations that limit the sale to only certain shades of the product. WHO WOULD EVER READ THAT?!? I get looking at the sign in a department store to see if the sale excludes items with a 97¢ ending, but squinting to read the fine print shade coding for certain products??? Just no. So when I had two of these lip butters in my basket, I left the store with only one because apparently the other shade I selected was not the shade in the particular row that was on sale. -sigh- However, I do love the shade of this lip butter and how it gives a hint of colour and shine without being super bright or sticky.
Essie Nail Lacquer in She’s Pampered $7.99 from $11.99
Three factors led me to purchase this nail polish: 1) I have been on the hunt for a gorgeous red polish and fell in love with this shade. 2) It was 4 dollars off, which seemed like a bloomin’ good deal to me, especially since I rarely ever fine Essie products on sale. And 3) I got bonus reward points with the purchase of any Essie nail product. With this trifecta of good reasons, I purchased this shade and I tried it out a few days later. Essie nail polishes go on really smoothly and evenly with no clumping and minimal bubbling while drying. I did manage to get a cat hair painted onto my thumb nail but that just comes with the territory of living with a cat. I did, however, take my grandmother’s advice this go-around and put the nail polish in the fridge for awhile before I applied it. She claims that cold polish goes on better than room temperature polish. At the time I thought she was just making it up, but it actually works.
NYX Liquid Suede Cream Lipsticks
I have heard so many good things about these lipsticks in YouTubers’ favourites videos so when I saw them in my local drugstore, I swatched a bunch of them on my arm and picked out three that I felt I would wear the most: Tea and Cookies, Cherry Skies, and Vintage. Tea and Cookies is a lovely rose pink, perfect for everyday wear, especially in early autumn and spring. Cherry Skies is a gorgeous deep wine red that would be beautiful for autumn and winter wear. Finally,Vintage is a plum shade with mauve undertones that I think would pair so well with a some winged eyeliner and a little black dress. These go on wet but dry matte, and I couldn’t get the swatches off my arm all night, so that definitely speaks to their lasting power.
CoverGirl Clean Sensitive Skin Pressed Powder in 210 Classic Ivory
This has been my go-to drugstore powder foundation for years, and every time I see it on sale I scoop one up. I actually reviewed this powder and the corresponding liquid foundation last year, which you can read here if you’d like. The powder is really light so it doesn’t feel like I’m wearing any but it is one of the few I have found that actually matches my skin tone.
Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara in Blackest Black
This is another product that has been be mentioned in several people’s favourites videos and blog posts, so I wanted to see if the hype surrounding it was worth it. I will definitely be posting a review of this product in the near future, so stay tuned.
What drugstore products have you been using lately???
The title of this blog post is a bit of a cheat since I only purchased two different shades of the same product and then scored a whole bunch of free samples, but I still wanted to do a little unboxing haul to show how nicely Sephora ships out their products and how adorable and incredible some of the samples are.
So the two products I purchased were the Make Up For Ever Pro Finish Multi-Use Powder Foundation in shades 110 Pink Porcelain and 113 Nude Porcelain. 113 is available in Sephora stores and I have been using and loving it ever since I first tried it way back in June 2015, and reviewed it here on my blog. However, I have been wondering if maybe it is a bit too yellowish for my skin tone and I wanted to try out the lightest shade, 110, but 110 is only available online, or maybe in some stores but not in the Sephora near me. I couldn’t judge the shades very well online so I ordered both, thinking I would immediately be able to tell which shade would be best for me when they arrived. Well, no such luck because I unpacked them only to find I could see a difference but still couldn’t decide which would be best.
Just a little shout-out to Sephora here because I love their product return policy because you can actually try out the product and then return it if it doesn’t work for you. So, I tried out both shades and I have decided to stick with the nude porcelain, partly for ease of purchasing because I don’t necessarily want to order online all the time and partly because the pink tones would be nice for a summery pink look but might not be as versatile as the nude porcelain in the autumn and winter.
And now for all the samples:
At the time that I placed my order, Sephora was offering a promotion where I could pick three deluxe samples of Fresh products for free. I love the brand Fresh, so I went with an old favourite and two products I have been dying to try. My favourite Fresh product is the Sugar Advanced Therapy Lip Treatment. I started using this way back in high school and it is the most hydrating and sweet-smelling lip balm I have ever used. I get very chapped lips in the winter and this just makes my lips kissably soft. The two new products are the Sugar Face Polish (125 g $62), which is a nourishing natural exfoliant made with real strawberries (including the seeds!!!) and brown sugar that polishes away dry, dull skin, and the Seaberry Moisturizing Face Oil (full size 50mL $52) that contains omegas 3, 6, 7, and 9 and pure oils to preserve youthful skin. Because of how expensive Fresh products are, I am so happy I was able to get some deluxe size samples so I can try them out and see if they are worth purchasing.
Then, as my three free samples that come with every Sephora order, I selected Benefit’s Goof Proof Brow Pencil, NARS Orgasm Blush, and Tatcha Balanced pore perfecting water gel moisturizer.
The Benefit Goof Proof Brow Pencil (full size $30) is a product I have been hearing a lot about recently, and something that I am in desperate need of. My brows do not have that sought-after arch, which is fine, but when I get all dolled up for a night out or something, they just look a little bit sad. The nice thing about this product is that it has a wide tip to fill in brows and a pointed end to define the tail of your brows. This has made my brows stand out so much more and have given them the little helping hand they needed. I was sent shade 03 Medium.
The NARS Orgasm blush (full size $38) is a product people have been raving about for years now, and I have actually never tried it. I love blush palettes more than getting just one shade in a pan, but this is a shade has been hailed as a cult beauty product so I felt I should give it a go. It is a gorgeous warm pink shade with golden shimmer highlights. What I really like about it is that it is really hard to over-apply it because the pink hue does not build up but the shimmer does, leaving a nice golden glow.
Tatcha is a brand I had not heard of before but I am always game to try international beauty brands. This japanese skin care and beauty brand combines the ancient wisdom of geisha beauty with the modern skin care regimen. The Balanced Pore Perfecting Water Gel Moisturizer (full size 50mL $68) offers oil-balancing hydration, making it great for oily skin, a rare find. Also, this moisturizer includes a dust of 23k gold. That’s right, gold, delivering a shine-free glow. After trying this, I found that my pores looked a lot smaller and tighter, and it wore really well under my makeup.
I can’t remember the last time I went shopping for beauty products, but last week I stopped into the drugstore and came across a few beauty products on sale that I wanted to try.
While wandering the aisles, I came across the Rimmel London Lasting Finish by Kate Moss lipsticks. I have never tried Rimmel’s lipsticks before but these were half price and I adore the shades. I picked up 107 Rossetto and 111 Kiss of Life, which I swatched to show just how gorgeous the shades really are. These lipsticks are said to deliver high intensity colour for up to 8 hours, and they live up to this. I wore Rossetto to work a few days last week and left 8 hours later with the same coat of lipstick, with minimal fading of the colour. Plus, the lasting power is unaffected by eating or drinking, so minimal to no touch-ups were required. Each of these lipsticks was CAN $4.99, which is a bloomin’ good price, especially for lipsticks that are such beautiful shades and last so long.
I also purchased the limited edition NYX Dream Catchers Dusk Til Dawn Palette. This features a range of 10 nude eyeshadow shades that can be blended and layered to create a wide variety of makeup looks. I have been using this palette for the last week and so far I am really impressed by the high pigmentation. I would definitely recommend a primer though to increase the staying power. NYX also released two other 10-shadow palettes titled Golden Horizons and Stormy Skies. The former has a lot of golden shades, while the latter has mostly cool-toned shades. The palette was CAN $20, which is a bargain for a palette given the price of some of the other palettes out there, and I will wear all of the shades.
What beauty products have you been loving lately???
After much deliberation, I picked out two of Clinique’s newly released Sweet Pots Sugar Scrub and Lip Balms. They are all such lovely colours, but Sweet Rose looks like such a soft pink, and Citron is the ideal clear lip balm that we all want sometimes when we are going with a plain lip look. I have yet to try them, but look out for a review post of these in the next little while because I already know I will be sharing my thoughts on them with you.
And now for the little cosmetic bag of goodies:
Clinique always has such vibrant cosmetic bags, and this one definitely lives up to that reputation. This one was designed by Kapitza, an East London design studio run by German sisters Nicole and Petra Kapitza. This studio actually conducts experimental research investigating geometric shapes and mathematical formulas. I was never a huge fan of math class, but this is one nifty application of it.
The qualifier price for this bonus is $31, but it is valued at $85, making it a great reason to wait half the year to stock up on your Clinique favourites. Like many Clinique bonuses, there is a choice involved, which can either be really great or really troubling if, like me, you struggle to make small decisions like what to eat for dinner or, in this case, what lipstick and eyeshadow trio I would like to try this season. I did a review post on Clinique Pop Lip Colour + Primer lipsticks last year, featuring the two shades available for this bonus, which you can read here if you’d like. This bonus also comes with:
Smart Night Custom-Repair Moisturizer, 15 ml
Rinse-Off Foaming Cleanser, 30 ml
Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion+, 30 ml
High Impact Mascara in Black (a personal favourite of mine)
This gift is also paired with a spend more, get more type deal, where you receive a deluxe size of your choice of Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief or Moisture Surge Intense Skin Fortifying Hydrator with a purchase of $75 or more. I didn’t go for this offer this go around because I am pretty stocked up on moisturizers and I am really trying to use up all of my sample sizes before I start collecting more.
What bonus times are happening right now where you live???
I know I did a post on a Clinique haul and bonus a few weeks back, but lo and behold, I have another!!! This time, I headed down to Sears to see what was new, and I am so happy that I did.
This go-around, I picked up some essentials and a few new products:
I first tried the Take The Day Off Makeup Remover when it came in a sample size in a previous bonus gift, and I love it. It takes eye and lip makeup off in one clean swoosh, and it is fragrance-free so it won’t irritate skin. As for the Cheek Pop blusher, I did a review of them earlier this year, but I was on the hunt for a lighter pink shade that I could wear with my autumnal berry lips and sultry tawny reds without having my cheeks clashing with my lips. This is a beautiful, soft pink, adding just the right amount of colour. And finally, the lip liners. The last time I used lip liner, I think I was maybe 13 years old and, long story short, I completely misunderstood the purpose and royally mucked it up. So, hoping I’ve matured, I am looking forward to trying these out. I’ve heard that they apply super smoothly, and really help lipstick last longer.
With these purchases, I qualified for Sears’ Clinique bonus, and I thought I would share with you all the goodies that came inside:
This bonus gift also came with Clinique’s High Impact mascara, but if you’ve been reading this blog for awhile, then you have probably been subjected to your fair share of me raving about how great it is.
I am really looking forward to trying out the Rinse-Off Eye Makeup Solvent, as I have been committing the cardinal makeup sin of sleeping in my mascara lately due to some late night study sessions. Hopefully this eye makeup remover is as good as I have heard, so I can leave it on the edge of my desk and at least spare my eyelashes from the effects of midnight review.
I am also really excited about the Turnaround Overnight Revitalizing Moisturizer. I reviewed the Turnaround Daytime Revitalizing Moisturizer, but I’m interested to see how the overnight moisturizer compares to the other products in the Turnaround range.
So, now, what about you??? Any beauty bonuses to share, or thoughts on these products??? So many of these ones are new to me, so I would love to know what you think of them!!!
With the first day of Autumn now a few days behind us, it seemed apropos that I do a post on one of my favourite seasonal occurrences: Clinique’s bonus time at Hudson’s Bay!!! What this means is for anyone in Canada, from September 15th to October 3rd 2015, Clinique is offering a bonus with a purchase of $31 or more. I absolutely love the Clinique bonuses because they have some treasured beauty favourites in them, along with new products to try. So, I thought I would show you what I bought from Clinique this time, and highlight a few products that came in the bonus 🙂 🙂
This Clinique gift is extra special because the cosmetic bag was designed by interior designer Tyler Dawson. If you haven’t heard of her, you can click here to pop over to her website and take a gander through her portfolio, her about page, and get in contact with her if you are interested in hiring her. Personally, I am a huge fan of her design style. It is so cute and chic at the same time, and I love how she pairs paint colours with furniture to make a room feel homey while looking fabulous.
To qualify for this bonus, I purchased Clinique’s newly released Turnaround Revitalizing Daytime Moisturizer. At $45, I really had to convince myself that this was something I wanted to try, and I JUST missed the free sample from Sephora if I shopped online, so that was a little irksome. But I have heard so many good things about this entire range, and moisturizer is always something I can use, so I went for it.
And now on to some of the goodies stashed away in this lovely little bonus:
First up is the Tyler Dawson-designed cosmetic bag. I think the colours are so fresh, and the clear, cylindrical zipper pull is such a unique take on the classic pull. It is very roomy so I think it would be great for storing, or travelling with, brushes or palettes that need lots of room both lengthways and widthways. The colours and design might be better suited for spring, but hey, it’s only a few months away.
The next item is a shade of Clinique’s Long Last Soft Matte lipstick in the shade Matte Peony. This is super coincidental because I was going to purchase this shade a few weeks back, and decided not to. And now here it is in my makeup collection!!! I’m pretty sure it was meant to be. This is a vibrant pink shade, with warm undertones. Once again, I feel like this shade would be better suited for Spring, but maybe this bonus is for Spring and is just being released in Autumn because Clinique wants us to start prepping our beauty collections for Spring. Who knows???
Next is the moisturizer component of the bonus. Clinique usually has at least one element of their bonus that you can choose so, for instance, the items in the gift are pre-set, but you can choose between two lipstick shades, or two colour themes that dictate which lipstick and eyeshadow shades you receive. In this case, the choosable element was the moisturizer. The choice was between the Even Better Moisturizer with SPF 20 or the Repairwear Uplifting Firming Cream with SPF 15. Really, the choice here is between having a brighter complexion, or giving your skin a bit more vitality. I went with the Even Better Moisturizer with SPF 20 because I have used it before and loved it, and I am not yet concerned with the firmness of my skin. But maybe I should be???
Next up is a product I have never even heard of before, which is strange because Clinique is one of my go-to makeup brands. The Blended Face Powder in Invisible Blend. If anyone has heard of this or used this before, I would love to hear your thoughts in the comments below, because I have no idea what this is, and no idea how to feel about it. I think it’s for setting makeup??? Maybe??? Gosh, do I ever feel out of the beauty loop here.
Now this product is fairly new, and I have never tried it: the Clinique Smart Custom-Repair Serum. Apparently this little number is suitable for all skin types and tones, and it sounds like it kind of gets to know your skin and figures out what it needs??? I know that sounds super weird and like I’m describing a life coach more than a skin serum, but I am kind of lost when it comes to this product. I did a little research and some of the uses of this product, like reducing lines or wrinkles, and firming skin are not things that I am really looking for in a product. Evening skin tone and boosting radiance though, those are things I wouldn’t turn down.
The last two products that were included in this bonus were the High Impact Extreme Volume Mascara and the Liquid Facial Soap Mild. This mascara is always, always, always included in Clinique’s bonuses, and I LOVE it. As I have most likely mentioned previously, I never have to buy mascara because I just live off the sample sizes that come in these bonuses. Between the wand design, the formula, and the easiness of packing it, this little sample size is hands-down my favourite mascara to-date. The facial soap is one I have used for years, and I even use it with my Sonic System if I’m feeling it. It’s just a nice, gentle cleanser that leaves skin feeling clean and fresh.
And that was this season’s Clinique bonus, and my mini haul!!!
Have you picked up your Clinique bonus yet??? What did you purchase to qualify??? Any recommendations???
